Photos and Images

Photo Releases

• All photos of individuals must have a signed photo release, unless they are in a public context (i.e., onstage at a public event.)
• Illustrations or photographs must be used with the photographer’s or artist’s consent, and with proper attribution.

Resolution

• Photos to be used in print publications should be high-resolution (at least 266 dpi at actual size), and may be jpg, gif, or tiff format.
• Photos for desktop publishing or web use should be low-resolution: 72 dpi, and jpg format.

Image Size

• Why are image sizes important? Giant images slow down websites. Slow websites equal bad user experience.
